Joshua A. Gallogly, CFP®, EA

Since 2002, Josh has had a love-hate relationship with the financial services industry.

For starters, Josh loves being able to help people with their relationship with money, which is one of the most powerful relationships in one’s life. However, he hates how many in the financial services industry use their knowledge for their own financial benefit over their clients’ long-term financial well-being. After all, why else do lobbyists of these large financial institutions fight so hard to prevent the fiduciary standard from being applied to them?

From his first internship at a big Wall Street firm to his time spent in the corporate office of a large insurance and financial services company, Josh learned the true motivations of these institutions and how the financial services industry, by and large, works for (and against) real people.

In 2007, after several years of unfulfilling work in the financial services industry, Josh decided to pursue a different career where he could actually help people. Josh became a Registered Nurse (RN).

Working in an acute care hospital setting for more than 11 years taught Josh a lot about life, including just how short and precious it is. During this time, and for obvious reasons, Josh was the go-to person for many of his hospital colleagues when they had personal finance questions. Some of the most anxiety-ridden questions he received were from folks approaching retirement who were unsure where to go to get financial advice and recommendations and not be taken advantaged of their life savings. After repeatedly having this same conversation, that’s when Josh knew that he could make an “advice-only” financial planning firm work.

Knowing that there’s no time like the present, and that tomorrow is not a given, gave Josh the courage to pursue the career he always wanted. In 2021, he registered his own independent, fee-only financial planning firm, Milestones Financial, LLC.

With no affiliation or employment by any bank, brokerage, or insurance company, Josh advises his clients without restriction or pressure to make certain recommendations. He serves his clients in a true fiduciary capacity, where he puts their needs first 100% of the time. It’s not about selling people to make a fast dollar. It’s about providing honest, straightforward solutions for their financial concerns.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology (majoring in Family Financial Management) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Josh is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and an enrolled agent (EA) of the IRS, which EAs are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation.

Josh and his wife, Meridith, and daughter, Claire, live in Grandview Heights, Ohio. They enjoy planning meals out together as a family and helping Claire learn about the world. In his spare time, Josh enjoys working on home improvement projects, listening to music, and being active outdoors.

Wondering if we would be a good fit?
